What information will my patients be able to access using Google Health™?

Your patients will be able to view the Quest Diagnostics lab results that you release. They will be able to store and share their information with medical providers in a secure Internet-based environment. Conversely, you can provide electronic, secure medical data directly to your patients.

Is Google required to comply with HIPAA requirements to protect patients' medical records?

We chose to collaborate with Google because they are committed to designing systems that will secure privacy and confidentiality. Google Health is not regulated by HIPAA because they serve as a proxy for the patient. However, Google Health is designed to protect the privacy and confidentiality of patient health information.

Patients must request that their lab tests be sent to Google and sign a HIPAA waiver authorization form electronically on the Quest Diagnostics side. Once the lab results flow into Google Health, patients may share their health profile with anyone they choose by giving their consent.

What measures are being taken to ensure my patient's authenticity?

Will Google share patients' Google Health Account information?
